Week 6 changes in the pups

+ Development of skin pigment, and a few spots will form fur
+ Fetuses should weigh around 6 grams and be 45 mm long
+ Fetal heartbeats can be heard with stethoscope

weeks4-5-6 shots

Here are piper's week 4-5- and 6 pregnancy shots.  Sorry I was lax on weeks 4 & 5.  My best friend got married so life was a bit hectic those last couple weeks. 
I must say Piper is HUGE.  no questions there are pups in there hahaha.  Her appetite is wonderful. She can not curl up into a ball any longer though.    Enjoy the pictures.

Week 4- 5 developement

The spinal cords are developing, and the fetuses are beginning to grow facial features. The uterus will shortly fill with fluids to protect the fetuses. After this, it will be weeks until the puppies can be felt again. Piper's dog's appetite will likely increase, so we are increasing her food.  Toes take shape; whisker buds become visible; umbilical cord forms; embryo ~18 mm long

First Ultrasound!

Well I can safely say Piper has been confirmed pregnant!!! Today is day 26!!!    WE saw 5 little nickel sized black sacks on this ultrasound.  :-)  This is by far not the official count.  We will do a second ultrasound on day 45 of pregnancy to determine a better count.  Pups can still be hiding at this stage, or can be absorbed so the number can -/+ a lot between now and then. 

I am attaching a photo of Piper standing we will call it week 3 of pregnancy.  You can see she has a slight belly pooch and her rear nipples are droopy.  I am also attaching a picture of her on her back on the ultrasound table with the gel goop on her tummy and then one of the screen of the ultrasound where the black circle is the puppy's sac.  Enjoy.

Day 23

The ovules should implanted into the uterine walls by now.  The cells are starting to specilize and form the different body systems such as the nervous system, ect.   Piper has large nipples and her appetite is still the same.... Ultrasound is this Friday!!!! I cant wait!!!

Day 19 of pregnancy

The Fertilized eggs are moving down the uterus and spreading out and implanting (hopefully)  now they will begin to GROW! 

Piper is for sure less active, and has a bit of Mommy-itis.
